Aida Medrano of Rotan, a beloved member of her community, passed away peacefully at her home on October 30, 2025, at the age of 97. Born on June 5, 1928, in Rio Grande City, Texas, Aida lived a life filled with love, service, and joy.
For sixteen years, Aida dedicated her time and energy to the cafeteria at Rotan Independent School District, where she was known for her kindness and commitment. Her presence was a comforting constant for many, reflecting her deep-seated passion for caring for others.
Aida was a devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was very active in the Guadalupana ministry, where her faith guided her life and shaped her community involvement. She cherished spending time outdoors, finding solace and happiness in tending to her yard. Aida loved spending time with and playing games with her beautiful family. He loves church hymns. Among her favorites were, One Day at a Time and, When the Roll is Called up Yonder. Her zest for life also included social outings, where she enjoyed going dancing and playing Bingo with her cherished friends.
Aida’s family, her greatest treasure, includes five sons: Arturo Medrano, Adolfo Medrano, Eddie Armando Medrano, Joe Alfred Medrano, and Richey Medrano; one daughter, Anadela Medrano; and a sister, Eva Garza. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfredo Medrano Jr., who was a significant part of her life, one son, Ricky Medrano, as well as her parents, Rosendo and Amada (Gonzalez) Olguin. Aida also mourned the loss of her four sisters, Maria de la Garza, Elia Garza, Josephina Campton, and Elida Montez; and her two brothers; Reynolda Olguin and Robert Olguin.
A Rosary will be held at 6:00 pm on Monday, November 3, 2025 at Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 10:00 am on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at St. Joseph Memorial Church, followed by burial in Belvieu Cemetery.
Aida Medrano leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to her family and community. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know her and will be remembered for the warmth she brought to their lives.

Pallbearers for the service will be Jon Medrano, Diego Phipps, Ricky Medrano, Gabriel Medrano, Damian Medrano, and Adrian Medrano. Honorary pallbearers will be Marivel Gonzales and Alexis Medrano.
