Ava Watson

Ava Sloan Watson, beloved daughter and sister, was born on September 23, 2014, in Sweetwater, Texas. She left us too soon on January 19, 2026, at the tender age of eleven. Ava was a vibrant 5th-grade student at Rotan who dreamed of becoming a veterinarian one day. Her passion for animals was matched only by her love for family and friends.

Ava's personality shone brightly; she adored her parents, Thomas and Katrina (Romero) Watson, and cherished her brothers and sisters. Her family's love and support were evident in every aspect of her young life. Ava was actively involved in her community, spending time at the First Baptist Church Kids Zone, where she developed many friendships. She was also a talented athlete, participating in basketball, cheerleading, and track. In her leisure time, Ava took joy in exploring her creativity, particularly with hair and makeup, showcasing her artistic flair. Her favorite fictional character was Stitch.

She is survived by her parents, her brother, Ethan Romero and partner, Brittany Martin and her brother, Thomas Watson Jr., her sisters, Gracie Sartain, Kylie Sartain, Angie Gomez, and her niece, Amani Romero.

Ava was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Luis and Angie Romero, and Hope Rodriguez, whose legacy of love continues to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know them

A visitation to celebrate Ava's life will be held on January 23, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Weathersbee Ray Funeral Home located at 111 N McKinley Ave, Rotan, TX, 79546. This gathering will be an opportunity for loved ones to come together and remember the joy and laughter that Ava brought into their lives.

There will be a celebration of life for Ava on Friday, January 30, 2026, at the Rotan First Baptist Church starting at 2:00 PM.

Though Ava's time with us was brief, her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends. Ava's memory will live on in the stories shared, the lives touched, and the love that continues to surround her family.
