Barbara King

Barbara King, 77, of Roby passed away Monday, October 30, 2017 at her home in Roby. Funeral services will be held at 10am, Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at the Roby Church of Christ. Burial will follow in Roby Cemetery.
Barbara King was born March 31, 1940 in Alanreed, TX to step-father, Troy Rogers and Martilene (Riddle) Rogers. Barbara was a graduated of Rotan High School and was valedictorian of her class. She met Cecil King in 1957; they were in Rotan when they first met and Cecil asked her for a date. Their first date was a softball game Cecil was playing with his team, in Sweetwater. It turned out to be a double-header, which put Barbara getting home well after her 10pm curfew. Barbara's father was none too pleased about their late arrival. He expressed that to both her and Cecil, as he had waited up for them. However, all was forgiven and the happy couple exchanged vows on February 8th, 1958. Barbara and Cecil spent the next 59 years together. Barbara was a homemaker and raised 3 children, and tons of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She absolutely adored spending time with her family, as they were her greatest loves. Barbara also was an avid gardener who kept immaculate flower beds. She was also a gifted painter and enjoyed sewing. She served as Vice President and was a member of the board of directors while she and Cecil owned the bank in Roby. According to the family, one of Barbara's greatest talents was smiling; no matter how she felt, she could always be found with a smile on her face. Barbara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She will be dearly missed by all that knew her and loved her.

Survivors include her loving husband, Cecil King; three children, Cindy Grannan, Kathy Terry and husband, Tony, Joel King and wife, Kristi; grandchildren, April Grannan, Ashley Grannan, Robin Grannan, Brandon Grannan, Tyson Terry and wife, Paige, Cecille Terry Faglie and husband, Neal, Logan Spurgeon and husband, Marcus, Kylar King, Kayce King, Karsyn King, Kasey Williamson and wife, Caitlin and Josh Williamson; and great grandchildren, Kiersten Grannan, Jaron Qualset, Jace Qualset, Makayla Bradley, Trae Bradley, Hazel Mari' King, Ryker Williamson, Besty Terry, Jacquelyn Terry, Charli Spurgeon, Macklen Spurgeon, Fallan Faglie, and Rowan Faglie.
