CHRISTELLE "CHRIS" MANIES, 89, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2016. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2016, at the Church of Christ in Rotan. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery in Funston, Texas, directed by Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home.
Born July 28, 1926, in Abilene, Chris was the daughter of Leslie Gordon and Cora Lea (Simmons) Vassar. Chris graduated from Stamford High School and received her beautician license. She owned and operated Chris's Beauty Shop in Anson. Chris enjoyed fishing, playing cards, working puzzles and helping out with the shut-in and food bank ministries. Chris was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ in Rotan and enjoyed working at the church.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Leslie Vassar Jr.
Chris is survived by one daughter, Nelda Emery and husband, Denver of Rotan; five grandchildren, Sharon Dees , William Vaughn, Heather Underwood, Randy Morgan, and Matthew Emery; and ten great-grandchildren, Gaige, Gavin, Gwynn, Dalton, Dillon, Destiny, Kaylee, Harleigh, Jaelynn, and Ava; and four great-great-grandchildren.
