Christine was a daughter of the late James Thomas and Muriel Rhoton Mahaffey. Christine attended both McCaulley and Sylvester High Schools and graduated with her class from Sylvester. She married Ellis Eugene Gruben on March 5, 1948. She managed an Allsups Convenience Store for twelve years and worked for Fisher County Home Health. Christine was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church in Rotan. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons, Ellis Wayne Gruben and Larry Eugene Gruben, and one soninlaw, Norman Wayne Whitefield, one brother, James Thomas Mahaffey, Jr., one sister, Helen Overton.

Christine is survived by her son and daughterinlaw, Harold and Debbie Gruben of Rotan her daughter, Regina Whitefield of Eastland a daughterinlaw, Terry Gruben two sisters, Flo Johnson and husband Louis of Stamford and Rena Scifres of Hamlin six grandchildren, Michael Wayne Gruben and wife Amanda of Lewiston ID, Jason Gruben and wife Karon of Snyder, Jeff Branch and wife Alisia of Eastland, David Branch and wife Cara of Eastland, Rebecca Estes and husband Steve of Sylvester, and Amy Elrod and husband J.D. of Rotan twelve greatgrandchildren, Fox and Skye Vantrease of Lewiston, ID, Haylee Jo and Hagen Gruben of Snyder, Hayden Branch of Eastland, Zeigan and Alyx Black of Eastland, Corden and Brynna Branch of Eastland and Cole Estes of Sylvester and numerous nieces and nephews. .
