Donald Whitley

Donald Ray Whitley, 81 passed from his earthly body to his Heavenly Home on Monday September 12, 2022. Visitation will be held Friday, 1:00 pm at the Rotan Four Square Church, 701 N. McKinley Ave. in Rotan, Texas, with the service following at 2:00 pm. Burial will be in Belvieu Cemetery. Services directed by Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home.

Ray was born March 4, 1941 to Frank and Francis Whitley in Pecos, Texas. Ray proudly served our country in the United States Air Force. He was very patriotic and loved his country.  He was a graduate from Texas Tech and an avid Dallas Cowboys Fan.  He loved to play golf and watch his grandkids participate in their sports and activities.

He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Whitley, and mother Francis Brashear; stepfather, Harold Mann; sister, Helen Leftwich; brother, Leslie “Buddy” Whitley; sister, Laverne Whitley; and granddaughter Echko Whitefield.

He is survived by his wife Mary Whitley; twin sister, Kay Rascoe; son David, and wife Christina; daughter Kristen Whitley; son Kelly, and wife Karina; daughter Tammy, and husband Chuck Williams; daughter Terri Whitefield; son Mitchell “Bubba” and Pat Whitefield; thirty-one grandkids, twenty-two great-grandkids; several nieces and nephews;  and one special Dog named Bo.

Charles Williams and Brian Massey will be officiating the service. Pallbearers are Brent, Johnny, Trey, Dakotah, Dallas and Blade Whitefield, J.J. Smith and Ricky James Gibson. Honorary pallbearers are Joseph, Josh, Robby, Tyler, Zach and Justin.
