Elida Moreno

ROBY- ELIDA MONTEZ MORENO, 62, passed away Monday, August 3, 2015, in Rotan, Texas. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rotan, with burial following at Roby Cemetery, directed by Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home. A Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at the Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home Chapel.

Born June 26, 1953, in Robstown, Texas, Elida was the daughter of Elias and Juanita (Martinez) Montez. A longtime resident of Roby, she served her community as a home health aide for many years. In her spare time, Elida enjoyed watching Spanish TV, and helping people. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and never forgot their birthdays. Elida was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rotan.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Guadalupe Moreno; her parents, Elias and Juanita Moreno; and seven brothers.

Elida is survived by her partner of eight years, Andy Gomez, who loved and cared for her; one son, Ruben Moreno and wife, Annie, of Roby; four daughters, Sandra Lopez and husband, Bobby, of Lubbock, Debra Moreno of Roby, Rebecca Castillo and husband, Gilbert, of Sweetwater, and Stacy Franklin and husband, Robert, of Sweetwater; two brothers, Elias Montez, Jr., and Rogelio Montez; two sisters, Janie Leal and Norma Ybarra; thirteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
