Ernesto Rodriguez

Abilene- Ernesto Q. Rodriguez, 69, passed away December 29, 2021, in Abilene.  Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday January 3, 2022, at First Baptist Church in Rotan, Burial will follow in Belvieu Cemetery.  Visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home Chapel.

Born August 4, 1952, in Fisher County, Ernesto was the son of the late Santiago and Celia (Quintanilla) Rodriguez.  He graduated from Abilene High School and join the United States Air Force.  Ernesto was a Godly man and was a member of the Israel Baptist Church in Abilene where he spent his time working with the youth.  He enjoyed going fishing and working on his ranch tending to his animals.  His best friend was his service dog J.R. Rodriguez.

Ernesto is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, one brother-in-law, and one nephew.

Survivors include two sons, Ernesto Rodriguez, Jr. (Mindy) and Daniel Rodríguez; brothers, Manuel Rodriguez, Adolfo Rodriguez, and Santiago Rodriguez (Jennifer); and one sister, Ester Mejia; grandchild, Samantha Rodriguez, service dog JR, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
