Born February 13, 1937, in Gonzalez County, Texas, Fermina was the daughter of Ysabel and Natividad Perez Gauna. She married the love of her life, Salvador Hernandez, on October 27, 1963, in Muleshoe, Texas. The couple moved to Rotan in 1969, where Fermina worked as an LVN at the Fisher County Hospital. Fermina was passionate about her job, and loved taking care of her patients. After 26 years of service, Fermina retired in 1995. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, and taking her homemade jelly to trade shows. She attended Emmanuel Baptist Church and Saint Joseph Catholic Church, both in Rotan.
Fermina is preceded in death by her parents, Ysabel and Natividad Gauna, and several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her husband of fiftyone years, Salvador Hernandez one son, Joseph Hernandez of Rotan one daughter, Cecilia Hernandez two brothers, Juan Gauna of Houston, and Demetrio Gauna of Mission three sisters, Eulalia Guana of Kerman, California, Ann Heleta Ceronado of Fresno, California, and Estephena Munoz of California four grandchildren, Alexis J. Yanez, Antonia A. Mendoza, Dustin Navarro, and Salvador Y. Hernandez three greatgrandchildren, Layne G. Ortiz, Isaiah Mendoza, and Riley Mendoza and numerous nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.
