Frankie Dean Jones, better known as Buddy, born on July 12, 1954, passed away on September 6, 2026.

Buddy will be remembered as a man who loved his family and found joy in the life he built around hard work, the outdoors, and the people closest to him. He spent 14 years working for Fisher County, where he ran heavy equipment before retiring in 2022. He was also a cowboy day worker, a role that reflected both his strong work ethic and his connection to the ranching way of life.

Outside of work, Buddy enjoyed the pursuits that brought him peace and happiness. He loved to fish, and he enjoyed shooting his bow and arrow. He also loved to cook and took pleasure in trying new recipes for his family, sharing not only meals but the care and thoughtfulness behind them. He enjoyed going to ranch rodeos and working with cutting horses, interests that spoke to the life he valued and the traditions he cherished.

Buddy is survived by his wife, Maurisa, children Lonnie (Darcee), Resa (Dale), LaTisha (Travis), Leslie (Jenni), Tyler (Adriann), one sister and niece and numerous grand and great-grandchildren. In loving memory of a “Cowboy Extraordinair”.

Buddy was preceded in death by his father, Hubert Jones, and his mother, LaVada (Price) Jones.

There will be a memorial service at 2:00 pm on Thursday, September 10, 2026 at the First Baptist Church of Rotan, Services are under the direction of Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home.

Those who knew Buddy will remember a man whose life was marked by devotion to family, steady labor, and the simple pleasures he loved most. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved him.
