Gregoria Gonzalez, a devoted seamstress and loving matriarch, was born on May 9, 1928, in Sweetwater, Texas. She passed away on December 17, 2025, in Frisco, Texas, at the age of 97.
Throughout her life, Gregoria dedicated herself to her craft, creating beautiful patchwork quilts that embodied her creativity and warmth. Her talent as a seamstress was matched only by her unwavering support for her husband, Eugene Gonzalez. Known as the number one helper to Eugene, she worked side by side with him whether he was engaged in woodworking or caring for the Sacred Heart Catholic Church at El Ranchito. Together, they demonstrated the beauty of partnership and shared commitment.
In her later years, Gregoria discovered a new passion for jigsaw puzzles, turning her home into a gallery of decorated art as her son, Carlos, helped her to display her finished creations. This joy and creativity reflected her loving and happy personality, which she generously shared with all who knew her.
Gregoria’s proudest accomplishments were as a devoted wife and mother. She cherished her roles, maintaining a close-knit family that embraced her love and values. As a long-standing member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, her faith played a significant role in her life, reinforcing the principles of kindness and service that she modeled for her children and grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Carlos Gonzalez, and his wife Amelia of Frisco, Texas; her grandchildren Alicia Tatum of Dallas, Texas, Michael Gonzalez of Highland Village, Texas, Anna Gonzalez of San Angelo, Texas, Nicolas Gonzalez of San Angelo, Texas, and Kathy Gonzalez of Hamlin, Texas; as well as seven great-grandchildren who carry on her legacy.
Gregoria is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eugene Gonzalez; her son, George Gonzalez; her father, Marcos Rodriguez; her mother, Epifania Escamilla Rodriguez; and her brothers, Sabas Rodriguez and Julio Rodriguez.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Gregoria's life. A rosary will be held at 7pm on December 21, 2025, at Weathersbee Ray Funeral Home in Rotan, Texas. The funeral service will follow on December 22, 2025 at 1pm, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, also in Rotan.
