Helen Noles

HELEN FERN (ALBERT) NOLES, 89, passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2016, at an Abilene Nursing Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at the First Baptist Church of Roby, with burial following at Belvieu Cemetery, directed by Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 7:00-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 16, 2016, at Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home.

Born October 21, 1926, in Rotan, Helen was the daughter of Connan Dale and Fannie (Willingham) Albert. She graduated from Rotan High School in 1944 and from the University of Texas in 1948 with a degree in Bacteriology. While at the University of Texas, she met Roy Noles of Sulphur Springs, and they were married in Rotan on September 2, 2948. Roy became part-owner of Roby Drug, and a few years later became the owner and changed the name to Noles Drug, where Helen assisted wherever she was needed. Their small family grew with the addition of David in 1952 and Suzanne in 1959. Tragedy struck when Suzanne passed away of brain cancer in 1960. Helen kept busy as a Cub Scout den mother, a member of the Garden Club, and always had time for school activities that involved her son. A supporter of the school and its teachers, she served a two year term on the Roby School Board. She especially enjoyed the annual Drug Store Christmas Party. In her spare time, she also enjoyed playing bridge and square dancing.

Helen and Roy took many long vacations, including to the Seattle World's Fair, Yellowstone, New York and Canada, and Disneyland. After Roy sold the store, they joined an RV club and took many trips with the club and friends from California. Their retirement years were spent taking care of their parents, managing their farming interests, travelling, and spending time with their grandchildren.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.D. Albert; her husband Roy in 2008; and her precious daughter Suzanne.

She is survived by her son, David Noles and his wife, Stacy, and their children Holly and Matthew of Tuscola and Abilene. Helen is also survived by many members of her extended family and loving friends who were so important to her.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the West Texas Rehabilitation Center in Abilene.
