Howard Gordon, a cherished farmer and rancher, passed away on September 21, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on September 4, 1939, in Sweetwater, Texas, Howard was the beloved son of the late Troy Bishop and Dolora Mae (Van Liew) Gordon. He carried with him a legacy of love and dedication, evident through his lifelong commitment to his family and profession.
Howard served his country honorably in the Army from 1958 to 1961, a period that shaped his character and instilled in him a deep respect for service and commitment. After his military service, Howard returned to his roots, immersing himself in farming and ranching, where he found not just a career, but a profound passion.
Described as someone who loved to talk and always had a smile on his face, Howard was a beacon of warmth and positivity in the lives of those around him. He treasured spending time with his family, often taking rides to check on his animals, a simple act that brought him immense joy. His love for his family was boundless.
Howard is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Judy Gordon; his sons, Rickey Gordon and Mark Gordon; his daughter, Donna Morris and her husband Randy; grandchildren, Ricia Gordon and Marcial Perez, Tara Grimmett and husband Reese, Candice Gordon and husband Brandon Dalon, Cassie and husband Jason Beard, Austin Morris, and Hailey Morris; eleven great-grandchildren; his brother, Randy Gordon and wife Tina, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who cherished him dearly.
Howard was preceded in death by his father, Bishop Gordon; his mother, Dolora Gordon; and his siblings: Deveral Gordon, Jerry Gordon, and Louise Gordon.
A graveside service to celebrate Howard's life will be held on September 24, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Hobbs Cemetery located in Hobbs, Texas. Family and friends are invited to gather as they pay their respects and reminisce about the wonderful moments spent with a man who brought so much joy and love to those who knew him.
