July 25, 1955 — August 18, 2016

JACK PRICE, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, August, 2016, at the Rotan Church of Christ with burial following at the Belvieu Cemetery, directed by Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Friday, August 19, 2016 at 6 p.m. at Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home Chapel.
Jack C Price was born July 25, 1955 at Callan Hospital in Rotan, Texas to Leon Cecil (Salty) and Mabel Corrine Etheredge Price. His sisters Ruth Ann, Aurora (Raggmopp) and brother James helped welcome him. A week later, his best friend was born in the same hospital.
Jack was always finding new ways to make people laugh with jokes, stories, tall tales, and plenty of pranks.
With plenty of help from his best friend, he graduated from Rotan High in 1973, where he taught Dexter Elrod how to stuff cats in mailboxes.
Jack began working in the oilfield shortly after school.
On September 10, 1976 he finally convinced Carol Ann Posey to marry him. This September they would celebrate their 40th anniversary, an accomplishment he was very proud of.
In 1979 Jack began working for West Texas Utilities, which later became AEP. He was immensely proud of his work, faithfully serving 38 years while perfecting his craft. Jack loved to work storms and travel, taking photos along the way. He loved meeting new people and he never met a stranger. His happy disposition and ability to brighten any circumstance endeared him to everyone he met. His perpetual service to the community and his unwavering integrity earned him a reputation for honesty and character. His work ethic and dedication to his family made him an icon.
Jack was a longtime deacon at the Church of Christ in Rotan where he tirelessly served anyone who had a need. He was a true servant whose works will never be fully known. He did maintenance and appliance repair for the elderly, yard work, trimmed trees, and he never passed a stranded motorist.
Jack celebrated his second birthday on March 31,1980, the date he was baptized. Sometimes he expected a coconut cream pie for this occasion as well.
Jack passed suddenly on August 18, 2016. He leaves a vacancy that cannot be filled.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Salty and Mabel Price. He is survived by his wife Carol Price and his family, which brought him so much joy:
Jody and Josh Helms of Rotan
Russell Price and Christine Moore of Abilene,
Jacob and Ashleigh Price of Granbury,
Bailey Shaye Helms, Rylie Suzanne Price, Reagan Ann Price, Kayleigh Rene Price, Samuel Ray Helms, Jaedyn Sidney Price, Lexy Glenn Price, and Lilah Brynn Price.
