Janice Sue (Long) Harrison passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026. Jan was born November 7, 1939 in Girard, Texas to Clifford and Golden Long.
Jan spent her childhood in Girard and graduated from Girard High School in 1958.
She married William (Billy) John Harrison on September 20, 1958 in Spur, Texas. They resided in Jayton, Texas for the remainder of their lives.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William (Billy) John; her son, William (Billy) John Harrison Jr.; her brother, Guinn Long, and her sisters, Lea Cooper, and Peggy Spicer.
Jan’s last eight years she resided in the Kent County Nursing Home, where she was loved like family. We are so grateful for the daily love and care that they had for our Mom.
Jan was employed with the Kent County Extension Service, retiring after 32 years. Jan and her husband Billy John also spent their life farming together in Kent County. Jan was a multi-talented seamstress, crafter, and cook. She loved working on the computer and doing genealogy research on their families, which she continued to do until her death.
She is survived by her daughter, Jackie Martin and husband, Wesley; son, Frank Harrison and wife, Darla, grandchildren, William John (Trey) Harrison and wife , Wendy, Jennifer (Harrison) Yost and husband, David, Ethan Martin and wife, Bethanie, Eli Martin and wife, Shayle, Caleb Harrison and wife, Jordan, Ryan Harrison, Molly Pierce, and Ryder Harrison; great grandchildren, Christian McCabe, Isaac Harrison, Jacob Harrison, Aaden Harrison, Holly Martin, Bo Martin, Haydon Martin, Jake Martin, Lydia Martin, Jamie Martin, Waylon Martin, Charlie Harrison, Camden Harrison, Grady Harrison, and Brody Bates; sister, Pauline Collins; sister-in-law, Bobbie Long; and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a visitation at the First Baptist Church of Jayton starting a 1:00 PM on Sunday, February 22, 2026. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM. directed by Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home of Rotan.
