Obituary - Jeanne McClure
Jeanne Todd McClure, 86, was called home to be with the Lord and her beloved husband, Jack, on February 4, 2016, in Henrietta, TX. A memorial service will be held graveside at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2 at the Roby Cemetery, directed by the Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home.
The youngest of seven, Jeanne was born on March 26, 1930, in Agar, South Dakota to the late Arthur B. Todd and Gladys Irene Currier Todd, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Jeanne and her two brothers and four sisters spent their earliest days helping on their father's large farm and attending a one-room schoolhouse. As a young adult, she moved to the state capital, Pierre, and worked in the State House where she developed an interest in business and a love for fashion. In Pierre, she met Jack McClure, a handsome Texan who became the love of her life and husband in 1952. Jeanne and Jack spent their early marriage traveling seasonally between Oneida South Dakota and Roby, Texas, and finally settled in Roby where they owned and operated McClure's Inc., a liquid fertilizer business. Jeanne and Jack also farmed cotton, raised cattle and introduced Fisher County to the Paso Fino breed of horses. Jeanne was an avid reader and a spiritual person, serving as an inspiration to her young grandsons. She was passionate in her belief that anyone could reach their dreams with enough time, hard work and a good education. Jeanne had deep friendships, strong political views, and a strict sense of fairness. She was funny, challenging and loved her family unconditionally. She will be missed.
Jeanne is survived by her son, Jeff McClure and his wife, Darla; daughter, Jenna McClure Thompson and her husband, Ray; Chance McClure and his wife Renee; Tate Poynor and his wife Kim; Tyse Poynor; Chase Thompson and his wife Shannon; and Trey Poynor; and five great grandchildren, Nolan, Nathan, Mya, Isabel, and Jonathan.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking instead that charitable donations be directed to Pastoral Care & Counseling Center, 1317 North 8th Street, STE 200, Abilene, Texas 79601-4145.
