John Bruce
Cox
Feb 25, 1931 — Oct 3, 2026
Rotan, Texas
John Bruce Cox, 95, of Rotan, Texas passed away peacefully on October 3, 2026.
Bruce was born in 1931 in Stanton, Texas. Graduating in 1952 with a Bachelor of Science from Texas Tech College, he then married Patsy Kate Cox in 1955. After a few years in education, the Coxes moved to Fisher County and began a life of ranching both cattle and market hogs. Bruce’s hog operation was one of the few in Texas.
Bruce was a member of the Methodist Church in Rotan serving on committees and raising a family in the church. He was a devoted husband and father and a doting grandfather traveling countless miles to band halftime shows, football games, basketball games, and track meets. Being a private man, Bruce helped people without anyone ever knowing he did; he had a job for someone willing to work, he helped families in need, and he instilled those qualities into his children and grandchildren.
Bruce is survived by his children: Melanie, John and his wife Adriana, and Dale and his wife Martha. His grandchildren Amy Harrison and husband Jeremy, Jordan Cox and wife Opal, Jacob Cox and wife Miranda, Stefan Cox, and Cameron Cox and his wife Nadine also survive him plus seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to recognize and thank the amazing staff at Heritage House. Your compassion and care made Dad’s final days easier for him and for all of us. You are an amazing group.
A private graveside ceremony was held at Belview Cemetery in Rotan, Texas on October 7, 2026.
