Johnny Justiss

JOHNNY CARROLL JUSTISS, 77, of Roby, Texas, passed away December 18, 2016. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2016, at the First Baptist Church of Roby, with burial following at Roby Cemetery, directed by Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6:00 -7:00 p.m,. on Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home.
Johnny is survived by his wife, Barbara (Mash) Justiss; brother, Gary Justiss and wife Linda; three sons and daughter-in-laws, Shawn and Kay, Sam and Wendy, Patrick and Tess; nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren; cousin, Brian Justiss, and numerous other relatives.
Johnny was preceded in death by one granddaughter and his parents Tennis and Naomi (Took) Justiss.
Johnny played football for the Roby Lions and graduated in 1957. He then attended Howard College in Big Spring from 1957 to 1959. He married Barbara Mash in 1963 in Roby, Texas. Johnny had a strong Christian faith as a member of the First Baptist Church of Coahoma, Texas for 38 years. He served as mayor of Coahoma, and was a member of the Coahoma School Board as well as the Lions Club. Johnny was the sports announcer for Coahoma High football and Vice President of Coahoma State Bank from 1963 to 1985.
In 2001 Johnny and Barbara moved to Muleshoe, Texas to assume the role as zone manager for the Texas Bollweevil Eradication Foundation. He became a member of the First Baptist Church.
In 2007 they moved back to retire in Roby, Texas and joined the First Baptist Church of Roby, Texas.
