Larry Hamlin

Larry Weldon Hamlin, 74, passed away at Fisher County Hospital, Friday, May 13, 2016. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00AM Monday May 16, 2016, at First Baptist Church of Rotan with burial following at Belvieu Cemetery directed by Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Sunday, May 15, 2016 from 5:00 PM until 6:00 PM.

Larry was born September 11, 1941, at the Callan Hospital in Rotan. He was the son of C.K. and Mary Ruth Hamlin. He attended elementary and middle school in Rotan. The family moved for a number of years to Andrews, but Larry wanted to graduate from RHS and moved back to stay with his grandparents. He next enrolled in the X-ray program at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, where he met Karen, an x-ray tech there. They were married 8 months later and spent the next 54 years together. Larry ultimately worked for UT-Austin for 20 years before retiring in June 2000, when they moved back to Rotan.
