Larue Vann

LaRUE VANN, 93, of Rotan, passed away Friday, February 5, 2016, in Rotan. Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 8, 2016, at Belvieu Cemetery in Rotan, directed by Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home.
Born April 22, 1922, in Montague County, Texas, LaRue was the daughter of Harvey and Bessie (Davidson) Smith. She graduated from Bowie High School in 1940 and married Kenneth Vann on November 2, 1951 in Olney, Texas. In 1956, the couple moved to Rotan where LaRue worked as an LVN in the Fisher County Area. In her spare time, she volunteered at the Clothes Closet and sang with the Fisher County Singing Group at the nursing home. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rotan and an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.
LaRue is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers, and two sisters.
She is survived by one son, Joe Vann and wife, Angie, of Abilene; one daughter, Linda Vann Collins of San Antonio; one brother, Jack Smith and wife, Charlene, of Wichita Falls; one sister, Trudy Watkins of Alvin; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
