ROTAN - LAZARO MIRANDA, 88, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at his home in Rotan. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 3, 2015, at the First Baptist Church of Roby, with burial following at the Roby Cemetery, directed by Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home.
Born July 10, 1926, in Chinacates Durango, Mexico, Lazaro was the son of Francisco and Estanislada (Silva) Miranda. He married the love of his life, Eustolia Morales, on February 28, 1953, and began farming near Rotan. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. Lazaro enjoyed eating out, especially at "scrungy places," which he said had the best food. He was a life long resident of Fisher County, and a member of Crossroads Baptist Church.
Lazaro is preceded in death by his parents, Francisco and Estanislada Miranda; his brother, Arturo Miranda; his sisters, Lydia Calderon and Teresa Miranda; his grandson, Emidio Lechuga; his great grandson, Juan Diego Palacios; his granddaughter, Victoria Leslie Miranda; his great granddaughter Miranda Fey Palacios, and his son-in-law, Ramon Guerra.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Eustolia Miranda; two sons, Frank Miranda and wife, Lydia, of Rotan, and Lazaro Miranda, Jr. and wife, Kandi, of Munday; four daughters, Irma Guerra of Roby, Bertha Cortez and husband, Abel, of Chicago, Illinois, Hilda Duchi and husband, Marco, of Arlington, and Elva Lechuga and husband, Eduardo, of Garden Grove, California; one brother, Enrique Miranda; seventeen grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren.
