Peggy Gruben

Roby- Peggy Jolene Gruben, 90, passed away December 18, 2021, in Hamlin.  Graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2021, in the Roby Cemetery, directed by Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home.

Born March 5, 1931, in Hamlin, Peggy was the daughter of the late Travis and Mattie (Barnes) Conner.  She graduated from Hamlin High School and married David D Gruben in Carlsbad, NM.  Peggy was one of the first telephone operators that worked for Bell Telephone Company.  She also worked for 16 years at the First National Bank in Rotan as a teller and later the gin in Rotan and Roby.  She loved to cook for her family, and no-one left her table hungry.

Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, husband and one grandson, Matthew Gruben.

Survivors include her son, Rickey Gruben; two grandsons, Daniel Gruben (Heather), and William Gruben (Alicia); and great grandchildren, Kaylie, Weston, and Jayden.
