Ricky Stanford, Sr.

Ricky Stanford, Sr., 63, of Coleman and formerly of Rotan, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2017, at his home in Coleman. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm, Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at the Central Baptist Church in Hamlin. Burial will follow in Hamlin Memorial Cemetery. Visitation is set for 12:30pm to 2:00pm, on Wednesday, May 10, at Central Baptist Church, prior to the funeral services.
Ricky Lynn Stanford, Sr. was born May 15, 1953 to Tommy Lyndle and Bernice Ima Jean (Hutchingson) Stanford, in Rotan, TX. Ricky graduated from high school and went on to receive his Master's Degree from ACU. He married the love of his life, Debra Sue Donham, on June 19, 1971, in Coleman, TX. Ricky worked managing various warehouses and other industrial sites before going to work at the Ron Jackson State School in Brownwood; and he retired from there after 14 years of loyal service. Ricky loved life and he loved to laugh. He was a great cook, famous for his Dirty Sock Soup and Campfire Cobbler. Ricky loved spending time with his family and being active in his children and grandchildren's lives; Ricky also assigned special nicknames to his loved ones. He had a soft spot in his heart for children that didn't have any active "father figures" in their lives and worked to engage those children in different activities. Ricky enjoyed fishing, was a skilled woodworker, and had a talent for building and working on computers. Ricky and Debbie are members of the Central Baptist Church in Coleman; where Ricky served as a Deacon in the church. Ricky was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew him and loved him.
Ricky was preceded in death by his parents; Tommy and Bernice Stanford.
Ricky is survived by his loving wife, Debbie; his children, Ricky Stanford, Jr. and wife Amanda, Amber Lefevre and husband Chad, and Rosie Stanford; 7 grandchildren, Braden "Grizzly Bear" Stanford and wife Emily "Pooh Bear", Bryce "Polar Bear" Stanford, Brody "Kodi Bear" Stanford, Zach "T.C." Lefevre, Zoe "Zoe C." Lefevre, Victoria "Rosebud" Stanford, Nehemiah "Nemo Monster" Roberson; his brother, David Stanford and wife Tessie; two sisters, Kathy Schulein and husband Billy and Patsy Weems and husband Don; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
