Ruben Rodriquez

RUBEN H. RODRIGUEZ, 71, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2016, surrounded by his family at his home in Roby. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with burial following at Roby Cemetery, directed by Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, July 4, 2016, at the Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home Chapel.
Born February 14, 1945, in Mercedes, Texas, Ruben was the son of Pablo and Rafaela (Hinojosa) Rodriguez. He worked as a maintenance supervisor at the Fisher County Hospital for twenty-six years. On June 28, 1997, he married Benita Rodriguez in Sweetwater, Texas. Ruben served on the Roby Volunteer Fire Department for over thirty years. In his spare time, Ruben enjoyed golfing, fishing, yardwork, helping friends, playing with his grandchildren, dancing, and music. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rotan.
Ruben was preceded in death by his parents, Pablo and Rafaela Rodriguez; his brother, Joe de los Santos; and his sister, Maria Ann Nifa Rodriguez.
He is survived by his wife of nineteen years, Benita Rodriguez; three sons, Ruben Rodriguez of Austin, Ronnie Rodriguez of Austin, and Rudy Rodriguez (Margaret) of Austin; one daughter, Rebecca Rodriguez of Austin; one step-son, Gilbert Rios (Susan) of Snyder; one brother, Israel Rodriguez (Alicia) of Dallas, one sister, Mary Alice Ramirez (Jimmy) of Roby; and a sisters in law, Nae de los Santos of Roby. Also, Pauline Estrada (Angel) of Snyder who held a special place in his heart; twenty-three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
