Thomas Johnson

ROTAN, TX. Thomas Delroy Johnson, 64, died unexpectedly at his home in Rotan Saturday. Graveside services will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, December 16, 2015, at the Dowell Cemetery in Rotan.
Tom was born February 20, 1951 in Charksdale, Mississippi, to Delroy and Elsie Johnson. He attended school in Clarksdale until the family moved to Temple in 1968 where his parents owned and operated Hancock Fabrics. He graduated from Temple High School in 1970. He attended Texas Tech University and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
Tom joined the Marines and served four years before being discharged at the rank of sergeant. He was employed 28 years afterward with the Texas Department of Public Safety as a Texas Highway Patrol officer.
He is survived by his wife Melinda Sue Johnson of Rotan, his parents Delroy and Elsie Johnson of Temple, and his step-son Marty Cleckler of Lubbock.
