Thomas Ortiz Jr.

Thomas Ortiz Jr, 72, died December 25, 2017. Funeral service will he held on Monday, January 8, 2018 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rotan at 10:00 am. Rosary will be on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at the Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home Chapel at 6:00 pm. Burial will be in the Roby Cemetery.
Thomas was born on July 30, 1945, in Del Rio, Texas to Thomas Ortiz Sr. and Carolina (Torrez) Ortiz. He was a farmer, and worked at the Co-op Gin, and the Terry Gin for many years. He loved music and enjoyed having a few beers with Richard and Hector. He was a simple man that loved his family dearly. Big family gatherings were precious to him.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Sr. and Carolina; two brothers, Natividad Ortiz and Rudy Ortiz; one sister, Silvestra Solis and brother-in-law Augustine Solis.
Thomas is survived by two nieces, Stacy Barrera Jimenez and Brian of Roby, and Anna Barrera and Bernie Cabrera; one sister Susan Villarreal and her husband, Adolfo; one brother Robert Ortiz and his wife, Mary.
