May 12, 1941 — July 7, 2025

Roby

Virginia Ann Jones (Dennis), born on May 12, 1941, in Roby, Texas, went home to be with her Lord and Savior peacefully on July 7, 2025, surrounded by love and prayers of her family. She was a strong Christian woman of unwavering faith, gentle strength, and endless kindness. She devoted her entire life to serving the Lord and spreading the good news of His love. Her days were filled with prayer, service, and a deep love for others, always pointing those around her toward Christ. She had a gift for making others feel seen, loved, and reminded of God’s grace.

Virginia attended Roby School, where she graduated high school. She went on to pursue her education at Hardin Simmons University, earning her bachelor’s degree. While pursing her degree, she met the love of her life, Johnny Jones. They married on May 24, 1964 in Roby. They shared their life together in Iraan where she was a member of the First Baptist Church and served as a Sunday School teacher. Virginia dedicated herself fully to her family, serving as a stay-at-home mother while raising her children. She faithfully supported her husband, often found cheering from the sidelines as he coached and scouted teams across the years. Later in life, Virginia shared her love of learning with others by becoming a librarian at the Iraan-Sheffield School District, where she touched many young lives with her kindness, wisdom, and quiet strength.

After losing her beloved husband, Johnny of 28 years to cancer, she moved back to Roby to be with family. She later married Olen Dennis in August of 2005, who shared her love of antiquing. Virginia took wonderful care of her family and friends, a testament to her loving nature that will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing her. She especially loved her role as Granny Ann to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Tanya Upshaw and husband Jeff, and Tiffany Pullig and husband Kent; five grandchildren, Tavey Stevenson and husband Tanner, Johnna Olson and husband Kenny, Tadie Nowlin and husband Tyson, Justin Pullig and wife Lexi, and Taven Upshaw and wife Lindsey; six great-grandchildren, Tanzlie, Tayzlee, Teddi Kate, Tyslie, Truix and Tate, who were a source of immense joy in her life. Virginia is also survived by her husband Olen Dennis, step-son Kenlee Dennis and wife Donti and family; her brother, Joe Martin and his wife Kathy, and nephew David Martin and wife Judi, and niece, Rebecca Martin.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Johnny Jones and her parents, Artie and Melba (Parker) Martin.
