Wanda Murphree

WANDA FAYE (KNIGHT) MURPHREE, 85, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2017, at an Abilene Hospital.
Born July 26, 1931, in Fisher County, Wanda was the daughter of Annie (Neeley) and Barney Knight. She attended school in Rotan, and married Carroll Murphree in 1946 in Fisher County. She worked as a nursing home administrator for many years, while raising her four children and managing the family home. Wanda also taught piano lessons, and was still teaching at the age of 85. She was an active member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church, and a former member of the First Baptist Church of Rotan. Wanda was heavily involved with Walk to Emmaus, and winning people to Jesus was the love of her life. In her spare time, she was an artist. She moved to Abilene more than a decade ago to be closer to her family and joined her new family at Wisteria and Chisholm Place.
Wanda is preceded in death by her husband, Carroll Murphree; her parents, one son, Marion Joe Murphree; two brothers, John and Rayford Knight; in-laws Bernard and Effie Murphree; and grandchildren Jeremy, Danny, Donea and many other loved ones.
She is survived by three children, Donna Click (EA) of Abilene; Randy Murphree (Sheila) of Rotan; and Kathy Strand (Hoby) of Spicewood; one sister, Lena Inman; six grandchildren, T.J. Click (Pam), Marisa Hackett (Brian), Stacey Deville (Dean); Brandi Webb, Cody Murphree (Stephanie); and Bradey Murphree (Tiffney); fourteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and more friends than we could name that she also considered family.
