Dale Bischoff

January 16, 1954 — January 25, 2022

Rotan

Dale Herman Bischoff, age 68, of Rotan, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on January 25, 2022, at his home, with his loving wife by his side.  Dale was born on January 16, 1954, in Tawas City, Michigan, to the late Herman and Marie (Blust) Bischoff.  He was raised on the Bischoff Family Farm with his three siblings: Jane, June and Mark.  He graduated in 1972 from Tawas Area High School, and settled down with his high school sweetheart, Sally Watts.  They remained married for 16 years and had three children, Kara, Sheila, and Jason, who were Dale’s pride and joy.

Dale was well known as a Jack of All Trades.  He held several positions ranging from working as a mechanic, to helping on several farms.  He spent 30+ years working for National Gypsum, both in Michigan and Texas, where he retired in 2014 from his position as Maintenance Manager.  He took joy in his labor and was capable beyond measure.  Although he never held a builder’s license, he had built several homes, garages, barns, and furniture.  He took pride in his work, and the quality was always evident.  A second marriage to Pamela Sandusky, and a job promotion is what brought Dale to West Texas, where he made all new friends with his charming personality, and quickly gained respect at the gypsum plant with his work ethic.

By 2002, Dale was once again single and absorbed in his work, when he caught the eye of Kathy (Price) Stamm.  They quickly became inseparable best friends, and by April 10, 2004, Dale and Kathy were wed.  Dale became a stepfather to Kathy’s son, Jason Stamm.  Dale and Kathy shared 20 years of happiness and loved each other with all they had.  They built a home, attended entirely too many auctions, and traveled around the country.  They married off their children, gaining daughter in-laws, Amy (Johnson) Stamm, Audrey (Daniels) Bischoff, and son in-law, Brian Hauff; and welcomed several grandchildren, Nick (Kelsey), Stephanie, Brody, Genesis, Elissa, Emma, Madsion, Rodney, and Travis; and Great Granddaughter, Arabella.

Dale was a very active man with boundless energy.  He refused to actually retire and took a job with Blackland Services.  When many would have retired to a rocking chair, Dale claimed that he still had work to get done. He was hardworking and loyal, and enjoyed working for the people that truly appreciated him.

Dale took care of the people he loved, and he loved so many.  His combination of generosity, kindness, work ethic, talent, and capability were unrivaled.  Dale will be missed by so many, whose lives he has touched.  A memorial service will be held Monday, January 31st, 2022, at Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home, at 1:00 P.M.; with visitation held from 11:30 to 1:00 P.M.  A second celebration of his life will be held in Tawas City, Michigan at a later date.
