Genoveva Alaniz was born on January 3, 1949, in Mathis, TX, to Benito Alaniz and Inez Saiz, and she left this life on December 7, 2020. Visitation services will be held on Sunday, December 13, 2020, at Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home. Graveside services were held on Monday, December 14, 2020, at Belvieu Cemetary in Rotan, TX. Genoveva, also known as “Geneva” or “Gino”, was a devoted Catholic and loved the Lord. During her lifetime, she lived mostly in Rotan, TX, where she is known and loved by many friends. Her passion was doing makeup and hair, and she also enjoyed photography, playing softball, swimming and crocheting. She loved her family and spent time visiting with them and watching all kinds of movies with her grandchildren. She had a memorable laugh, was honest, and would give you the shirt off her back. She once saved a child from drowning at the public pool. Her spirit will live on in heaven and her memory will remain in the hearts of those whom she touched so dearly. Genoveva is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Benito Alaniz Jr. and Jose Alaniz. She was survived by one son, Benito Alaniz; John Horn and Michael Horn whom she raised; and had 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was also survived by her 3 sisters, Antonia Garza and Eva Carrion from Rotan, TX, and Juanita Munoz from Roma, TX; 1 brother, Guadalupe Alaniz from South Padre Island, TX; and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, and great nieces and nephews.
