Jim was born December 31, 1945 in Rotan, Texas to the late Wayne and Ruby Nowlin. On April 17, 1955  Jim became a born-again Christian.  Jim graduated from Rotan High School in 1964 and attended Angelo State University and obtained his B.B.A. in 1970. He married Aurora Fae Price on April 18, 1970. They moved back to Rotan where she began a career as a teacher and Jim and his brother Stanley purchased a farm store. Together they raised two boys, Scott and David.

Jim's life was characterized by service. Humble service with his Lord and willing service to his country and community. As a combat Marine in Viet Nam he was wounded twice, receiving two Purple Hearts. He operated Nowlin Farm Supply for forty-four years before retiring, valuing his customers for their friendship more than anything else. He served as a deacon at First Baptist Church since 1988, many of those years as president of the deacons, and as a Sunday School teacher to a wonderful group of ornery old men whom he loved very much. He served as a volunteer fireman. He was the Veteran Service Officer for Fisher County. He will be missed by a family that he loved dearly.

Jim is preceded in death by his mother and father; one sister Frances Neeley and husband Archie; and one brother Stanley Nowlin and wife Evelyn; sister-in-law Ruth Ann Kiser and brother-in-law Jack Price.

He is survived by his loving wife Aurora; two sons Scott and Marisa Nowlin of Rotan; David and Rachelle Nowlin of Upper Arlington, Ohio; grandchildren Blake and Cheyanne Morris of Lubbock, Hunter Nowlin of Tampa Florida, Brody and Adeline Nowlin of Upper Arlington; great grandchildren Preston and Emersyn Morris; one sister-in law, Carol Price, two brother-in-laws, Jerry Kiser and James Price, in addition to many nephews, nieces and cousins.
