Jesucita (Susie) Medrano Barrera, 90, passed away peacefully in Rotan on Wednesday, September 2, 2020. She was born in Hobbs, TX to parents, Alfredo and Carlota Mijares Medrano. Susie married the love of her life Ismael Barrera on January 6, 1951 in Rotan where they made their home and raised their family.

Susie was a hard worker and always put her heart in everything she did. She retired from Winn’s 5 & Dime, worked part-time at H&L Davis, Thriftway, Fisher County Senior Citizens, and was a custodian at 1st National Bank.

She had a very strong faith in God and was dedicated member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Her family was everything to her and she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren every opportunity she had. Baking and working in her yard were two of her favorite ways to spend her time.

Susie is survived by her daughter, Mary Angelica Soliz and husband Henry of Abilene; granddaughter, Felecia Soliz; two Grandsons, Steven Barrera and wife Alanna, and Ethan Soliz and wife Ashley; eleven great-grandchildren, Steven Barrera, Jesse Barrera, Brittnie Barrera, Mia Ramirez, Samara Soliz, Kaden Sterling, Kendall Beardon, Ryder Beardon, Brittany Boles, Gabriel Garcia, Tanner Tankersley; eight great great-grandchildren, Logan Barrera, Cameron Gonzalez, MadiLynn Barrera, Paislee Barrera, Landon Barrera, Xzavier Boles, Genesis Garcia, Gabriella Garcia, Grace Garcia; and three special friends, Veronica Tankersley, Kaiti Thomas, and Cutter Tankersley.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ismael Barrera; son, Louis Barrera; her parents; sisters, Guadalupe Morales, Trinida Macias, Louise Martinez; brothers, Alfred Medrano, Alfonso Medrano, Franciso Medrano.
