Jimmie Garcia

1952 — January 1, 2020

Sylvester

Jimmie Garcia, 68, beloved father and grandfather, was called to his eternal resting place on March 20, 2020, in his beloved Fisher County. He entered this world on February 16, 1952, in Houston, TX, born to Trinidad and Susie Garcia. Born into a migrant family, his love for farming and ranching carried through to the day he departed this world. In his retirement years, there wasn't a day that he didn't think of his "girls" out in the fields (his cows) or complain when he missed coffee with his coffee shop buddies. Prior to retirement, Jimmie was employed by Big Country Electric Cooperative, Inc. for over 30 years as a heavy equipment operator. He wholeheartedly believed in the importance of education. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a scholarship fund or higher education institution of your choice in his remembrance. His dreams came true when not only one but both of his children graduated with their Bachelor's degrees, which just happened to be from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, TX. (hint, hint)

He is survived by his spouse Susie Garcia; daughter Kimberly Garcia of Midland, TX; son Tanner and spouse Courtney Garcia of Snyder, TX; and his highly cherished grandchildren Madeline, Benson, Elizabeth, Sariah, and Samson. He is also survived by his sisters; Alice Perez of Brownfield, TX, Gloria Garcia and Mary Helen Garcia of Abilene, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

He is preceded in death by both parents and brothers Joe Garcia, Trinidad Garcia, and Tony Garcia.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, only a PRIVATE graveside service will be held on Monday, March 23, 2020, at Sylvester Cemetery. Even though the family cannot welcome you at the graveside service, they sincerely appreciate your thoughts and prayers. In an attempt to acknowledge the friends and family that Jimmie was blessed with within Fisher County, the family requests your appearance in a parked parade style procession to officially send Jimmie on to his eternal resting place. Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home has most graciously granted the opportunity for the funeral procession to drive down the main streets of Rotan, Roby and Sylvester to allow friends and family (safely within or near their vehicles) to be "received". The family will depart Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home in Rotan, TX at 9 am.

The family plans to host a "Celebration of Life" ceremony at a later date, and details will be disseminated closer to the event.
