Marsha Smith

September 8, 1953 — January 27, 2023

Roby

Marsha Lynn Smith went home to be with her Lord and Savior January 27, 2023 after a courageous fight with cancer. Marsha was born September 8, 1953 to Loyd Valton Armstrong and Linda Lucille Boen. She married Alvin Martin Smith on June 22, 1973.

Marsha worked as a respiratory therapist and then a rural mail carrier for 34 years. She always worked hard and sacrificed to ensure her children and grandchildren never went without. In her spare time, she loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing on the South Llano River and trout fishing in the mountains. She loved all animals and especially had a love for horses and, in more recent years, Market show hogs. She was artistic and creative and never needed Pinterest to get a project going. Marsha was always productive; she kept a clean house and a well landscaped yard. She worked beside her husband on countless home projects over the years. She loved shopping with her daughters, especially for shoes. She tried to never miss a good sale.

Marsha was a woman of Faith. Her Faith blossomed in the year following her cancer diagnosis, which was truly beautiful for her family and friends to witness. When others might have become bitter, Marsha relentlessly proclaimed that “God has a plan,” even up until her final days on Earth. She was a member of First Baptist Church Roby for 45 years.

Marsha was especially proud of her family. She and Alvin would have celebrated 50 years of marriage this June. She raised a son and two daughters, and then had the pleasure of raising two grandsons. Her family continued to grow, totaling 10 grandchildren at the time of her death.

Marsha was proceeded in death by her father Loyd, mother Lucille, sister Jean, and nephew Ritchie. She is survived by her husband, Alvin; son Justin of Snyder; daughter Ashley Carreon (Brandon) of Roby; daughter Rachel Reyes (Zach) of San Angelo; grandsons Taylor Smith of San Angelo and Caleb Smith of Childress, and grandchildren Emma, Grayson, Harper, Hadley, Willa, and Sutton Carreon of Roby, and Aidy and Grey Reyes of San Angelo.

Marsha and her family would like to express their sincere thanks to their friends and to their church family at FBC Roby, especially her Sunday school class whom she regarded as family. They would also like to thank Kevin Kelly, FNP-C, Dr. Raj Cheruku of Shannon Clinic, the Shannon palliative care team: Dr. Linda Hitchcock and Tiffany Nunez, FNP-C, and the staff of Shannon 5 North.
