William Cleveland

William Harl “Cleve” Cleveland, Jr. passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2021. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 15, 2021, at the Church of Christ in Rotan with Doug Weatherly officiating. Burial will be in Dowell Cemetery, directed by Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, October 14, 2021, at the Rotan Church of Christ.

Born August 11, 1955, in Roby, Cleve was the son of William H. Cleveland, Sr. and Sue (Eaton) Cleveland. He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science Degree.

Cleve was a proud life-long resident of Fisher County and devoted his time to working the land and serving the community.

He was a devout member of the Rotan Church of Christ, where he served as Deacon and Teacher. He taught the Youth Group for six years and touched countless lives.

He was a humble man and his works were fruitful. It was his mission to provide a happy Christmas for the New Mexico Children’s Christian home.

Cleve married Kelly Leigh Mullins on July 17, 1992 and they settled in Rotan with their children, Gareth and Allison. He was a devout and loving father and husband.

His friends and family remember him best by his dry wit and great sense of humor. He could lift your spirits with a simple comment.

He is preceded in death by his father, William Harl Cleveland, Sr., and his grandparents.

He is survived by his wife, his mother Sue Cleveland of Rotan, sister Pam and Paul Titzell of Lubbock, sister Lynda and Craig Shue of Flower Mound, sister Diane and Doug Smith of May.

His surviving children are his son Gareth and Samantha Pipes of Rotan and their children, Paxton, Hudson, and Beckett. And his daughter, Allison and Clayton Swan of Idalou and their children, Cooper and Elin.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rotan Youth Group (Church of Christ).
